Zoltán Szegedy-Maszák finished his studies in 1992. He is an intermedia artist, currently Head of the Doctoral School of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. He has created new, virtual realities in his works that are of international relevance and are embedded in media and image theory. After his early Internet-projects—Cryptogram that utilizes cryptography (1995–1997) and DeMedusator (1998–1999)—he designed interfaces (locator wand, anamorphic image radiator, chrome steel cup, handheld artificial eye) that were compatible with numerous interactive artworks. He was nominated for the Nam June Paik Prize in 2003.
