Hajnal Németh was born in 1972 in Szőny. Between 1995 and 2000, she was a student at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts’ Intermedia Department. She was awarded the Smohay-Prize in 1999 and the Pécsi József Photography Grant in 2000. She received scholarships to work in Rotterdam (2001) and Berlin (2002). She participated in the Kunsthalle’s exhibition Media Model (2000) and in the 2nd Berlin Biennale (2001). She had solo exhibitions in the Ludwig Museum (2003) and in MODEM (2010). In 2011, she represented Hungary at the 54th Venice Biennale with her installation CRASH – Passive Interview. She lives and works in Berlin.
