Benczúr was invited to create Should I Live To Be A Hundred for Manifesta 2, held in Luxemburg in 1997. She calculated the number of days she would live until her one hundredth birthday, and ordered the exact number of clothing labels with the caption “Day by Day”.

Self-taught visual artist Várnai Gyula (1956, Kazincbarcika) studied mathematics, physics and music, and first exhibited his art in 1989. His work is “intellectual and sensible object poetry” (Gábor Andrási), often related to literature or philosophy.

In his third creative period, starting around 1990, the artist abandoned historical references and groups of characters dressed in archaizing costumes and arranged in theatrical tableaux. The process of gradual simplification began with the four-part Diary series.

Attila Csörgő’s works often represent possible solutions of complex mathematical, physical or descriptive geometrical problems, combining precise calculations and engineering design with the excitement of discovery.
