The next guest and lecturer of the
Check in Budapest curatorial visitor program
organized by ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange
is Gerardo Mosquera, artistic director of PhotoEspaña 2011 - the annual festival of photography and visual arts held in Madrid - by now one of the crucial events of the international photography scene.
In his lecture Gerardo Mosquera will speak about the curatorial programme of the current edition of PhotoEspaña, which will take place from June 1 to July 24, 2011. This year the festival is dedicated to the theme: Interfaces. Potraiture and Communication.

Gerardo Mosquera is an independent art critic, curator, art historian and writer, advisor at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, and member of the advisory board of several art journals. He is the artistic director of PhotoEspaña 2011. He was one of the founders of the Havana Biennial, the first art biennals of the Third World and Curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. He is author of numerous texts on contemporary art and art theory, he is also a permanent contributor to several art journals including Art Nexus (Bogota), Third Text (London) and Exit Express (Madrid). He has lectured extensively in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and North America. He received the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1990. Read more...
