Dan Byers, associate curator of Contemporary Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and co-curator of the 2013 Carnegie International.

In his lecture Dan Byers will talk about his latest curatorial projects at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and will present the Carnegie International, which is the oldest exhibition of international contemporary art in North America, and the second oldest in the world.

Dan Byers is Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. He is co-curator of the 2013 Carnegie International along with Daniel Baumann and Tina Kukielski.

Prior to working at the Carnegie, Byers was Curatorial Fellow at the Walker Art Center, and Assistant to the Directors at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia.He has an MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, and a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College.

His recent exhibitions at CMA include Ragnar Kjartansson: Song; Reanimation: Jones, Koester, Nashashibi/Skaer which featured William E. Jones, Joachim Koester, and Nashashibi/Skaer; and Ordinary Madness, a large-scale, wide ranging exhibition and film program based in the museum's collection. Upcoming exhibitions include the Pittsburgh Biennial, and an exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Glasgow-based artist Cathy Wilkes.
