This video deals with the interpretation of the geometric forms and the plan of a historic site, the Castel del Monte in Puglia. Several of the Révész’s works deal with buildings from classical eras which have become tourist sites, and have remained important due to the role they play in the present, and the special form of attention bestowed on them by tourism. The Castel del Monte was built by Federico Secondo in the thirteenth century. In this work the artist is walking around the building twice at dusk with a camera in his hand. The recorded spectacle is then formed into a kind of eight-sided kaleidoscope which is a variant form of the building’s plan.
