CONSUM/MANDALA: The exhibition of Stephanie Senge
Opening: 3 November 2010., Wednesday, 19:00.
What comes into your mind about the word "consum-mandala"? Do you have any idea about it? How should we see this phenomenon here, in Budapest? Why does the German artist, Stephanie Senge (München) refer to her new works, space-installations, montages, collages and photos as “consum-mandalas”?
This exhibition follows the process the artist imagined and implemented in Japan in 2005. She defined her Japanese series of many so-called ‘consum-ikebanas’ (sculptural compositions of very cheap products from "100 Jen-Shops") as her own "evaluation method of the value".
Stephanie Senge creates her art pieces of the cheapest products available in the country where she actually stays and works, while she also uses some traditional methods of art making (like ikebana or mandala).
The specialty of her Budapest project is that she comes directly from India across Berlin to Budapest to work in the space of the LudwigInzert gallery in a new way.
