Selected as a finalist for the Leopold Bloom Art Prize 2013, photographer ANNA FABRICIUS has been making videos and photo series over the last few years featuring manual workers, factory workers and athletes who are invited to participate during working hours and at their workplace. For her series Hungarian Standard, she chose groups that everyone would recognise, regardless of gender and age (firemen, postmen or policemen), thus defining the group itself as a source of identity. In the photographs, the tightly arranged five-person formation, in which Fabricius appears several times, reflects this classifiability and interchangeability of persons. The series is also an imprint of role-playing (the artist works with her collaborators, seeking their opinions), for which she uses deliberately arranged compositions that reference art historical genres.
