Joe Tilson is one of the most remarkable artists of pop art in Britain. His work preserved at Ludwig Museum's collection consists of 5 pieces and was made in 1968 with serigraphy, a technique favoured by pop art movement. The pictures representing the 5 senses are contained in a giant plexi slide-frame. Tilson followed here one of pop art's favourite artistic method i.e. magnifying everyday objects. About 10 years ago, one of the five pieces became damaged, thus, it is the first time since that the whole series can be seen together. The presentation will discuss the challenges involved in restoring this extremely fragile artwork.

17.00 – 23.00: Unpacking My Library. A virtual library of artist who exhibited at the Hungarian Pavilion of Venice Biennial between 1986 and 2017
An adaptation of the project initiated by Christine Macel, head curator of 57th Venice Biennale in 2017, who requested artists participating in the main exhibition Viva Arte Viva to list their favourite books. This is a great opportunity to get to know the literary works these artists like reading as we can get an idea about their inspirational sources which might also provide inspiration to members of the public. The title of the project is borrowed from an essay by Walter Benjamin titled Ich packe meine Bibliothek aus, 1931. The exhibition is located at the Stirling Pavilion, Giardini.
Ludwig Museum Library has extended the project both in time and space and asked Hungarian artists who exhibited either at our national or at the Central Pavilion in the past 30 years to send a list of their favourite readings in order to share it with the public by creating a virtual library of the Hungarian Pavilion. Look for the library's glass wall on the second floor!
