The project’s aim was to create a piece with the involvement of mentally challenged young students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, artists-to-be, university students and professors, NGOs and local citizens.
The collaborative work includes participation from talented mentally challenged artists from the ‘Fogd a Kezem Alapítvány’ [Hold My Hand Association] in Pécs, students from the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts of the University of Pécs, furthermore local residents (Rücker-akna), and children with a disadvantaged background from the Pécs-Somogyi School. The participants will plan and build together a “floating house” (3x4m floor), then float it into the quarry pond in Rücker-akna. Throughout the ritual, the creators will stay together until dark, when the house lights up in the middle of the lake in its own beauty and solitude. The event is both an arrival and a meeting at the same time: meeting with one another, the final work, the joint creation and our home.
