Create planetary visual language! Join a global art event!
The public installations of iconuu are meant to motivate visitors to communicate with people around the globe, using a visual form of expression and crossing the limits of language.
Go digital! Icon yourself!
Iconuu is described best as an online platform and tool, working like an advanced social network. Within this network people communicate with a new code for an old system. The new code works like a sensual stenography to create a visual statement in a narrative format. The main principle is to put creativity before pragmatism.
Conceptually iconuu is framed under the understanding of a participatory culture. This perspective assumes that the expansion and democratization of new collaborative technologies allow users to experiment not only with meanings but also with the different uses of the tools in ways that surprise their creators.
Therefore iconuu is generally available for everyone under www.iconuu.net and, for a limited time, with an exclusive, specialised version in:
Budapest (Hungary) | Ludwig Museum
Barcelona (Spain) | HANGAR.ORG
Karlsruhe (Germany) | ZKM
Prague (Czech Republic) | Palác Akropolis
Reykjavik (Iceland) | National Gallery of Iceland
Seoul(Republic of Korea) | National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
Wuhan (People’s Republic of China) | Art Department of Huazhong University of Science and Technology
The installation at the Ludwig Museum was realised with the contribution of local artist Zsolt Gyarmati.
Coordinator: Andrea Simon
Iconuu has been developed by PIPES, a collaborative project of four European cultural associations: ZKM | Karlsruhe, CIANT (Prague), HANGAR (Barcelona) and BRAINZ (Prague).
Partners: Ministry of human Resources, Palace of Arts
